Toothache Treatment in Woodbury & Cinnaminson, NJ
Anyone who has ever dealt with a toothache knows pain. Whether the toothache appeared suddenly after crunching down on something hard or you simply woke up in the middle of the night with an intense throbbing in your mouth, you must know where to turn for care. After all, a toothache is considered a dental emergency so the sooner you seek care the better. When tooth pain arises, turn to the expert team at Michael Vanaria, DMD for treatment.
What causes a toothache?
Through an oral exam and by running x-rays we can determine the cause of your toothache. This is important so that we know exactly how to treat the problem to get rid of your pain fast. One of the most common causes of toothache is a cavity. Fortunately, this is a pretty easy fix. We simply numb the area around the tooth, remove the decayed enamel, and then place a dental filling.
Of course, a toothache can also be a sign of:
- Gum disease
- Teeth grinding
- A crack or fracture
- An erupted tooth (more common in young children)
What are the symptoms of a toothache?
While pain is obviously the first sign that something is wrong, pain manifests itself differently for everyone. You may notice sudden lingering sensitivity to hot and cold foods and drinks when you didn’t before. The gums around your teeth may hurt, too (a possible sign of gum disease). You may notice an intense pain that gets worse when biting down or putting pressure on the tooth. You may simply have constant and severe pain that doesn’t ease up.
Whatever the severity and type of pain you’re dealing with, you must seek proper dental care from our team. Even mild pain shouldn’t go ignored. By describing the symptoms you’re experiencing you also give us a better idea of what could be going on (while also helping us rule out other possible causes of your pain).
